1. Overview & Architecture

This Privacy Policy describes how FSM Systems ("we," "our," or "us") manages information in connection with the FSM Rclone application ("the Application").

FSM Rclone is a client-side command-line tool and synchronization client. It connects your local computer or server directly to Google Drive using Google's OAuth 2.0 API. FSM Systems does not operate intermediary servers, proxies, relays, or cloud databases that ingest, read, duplicate, or store your Google Drive files or credentials.

2. Information We Process

When utilizing FSM Rclone, the following categories of technical data are processed strictly on your local machine:

  • OAuth 2.0 Authentication Tokens: Temporary access tokens and refresh tokens issued by Google Identity Services to authorize direct transfers between your device and Google Drive.
  • File System Metadata: File names, paths, file sizes, timestamps, and checksums (e.g., MD5) processed locally in system RAM to compare directory trees and determine which files require synchronization.
  • File Contents: The actual binary data of files you explicitly command FSM Rclone to upload, download, or copy to/from Google Drive.

3. Google User Data Handling

FSM Rclone accesses Google user data via Google Drive APIs only after you grant explicit consent through Google's OAuth screen. The requested scopes may include:

  • https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file — Allows creation and management of files and folders opened or created directly by the application.
  • https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive — Permits recursive synchronization across pre-existing Google Drive directories and folders specified by the user.
  • https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.readonly — Read-only access for restore audits and one-way download tasks.

4. Google API Limited Use Requirements

Google API Services User Data Policy Compliance

FSM Rclone's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

In strict accordance with these requirements:

  • Google user data is never used to serve advertisements (including retargeting, interest-based, or personalized advertising).
  • Google user data is never transferred or sold to any third party.
  • Google user data is never utilized to build, train, or tune generalized machine learning (ML) or artificial intelligence (AI) models.
  • No human employees, contractors, or agents at FSM Systems can inspect, access, or view your file data or tokens.

5. Data Storage & Security

All configuration data, including client secrets and OAuth refresh tokens, is maintained locally on the user's host machine (by default inside your local configuration directory, such as ~/.config/rclone/rclone.conf).

Because data resides strictly between your local client and Google's servers over secure TLS/HTTPS connections, FSM Systems does not maintain central backups or retention logs of your transferred files.

6. Sharing & Third Parties

FSM Systems does not sell, lease, disclose, or distribute Google user data to any external parties. All API interactions occur exclusively between your local instance of FSM Rclone and Google API endpoints.

7. Revocation & Token Control

You retain absolute and complete control over access permissions at all times. You can terminate FSM Rclone's access to your Google account at any moment through either of the following steps:

  1. Visit your Google Account Permissions Dashboard and revoke authorization for FSM Rclone.
  2. Delete the configuration entry or token from your local workstation using rclone config delete [remote_name] or removing your local configuration file.
